Our History

Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club was founded in 2003 and it was originally supposed to be developed in the Caldera. Jimmy Mehen was the driving force behind the development of Flagstaff Ranch and he organized the land trade to secure the land that Flagstaff Ranch currently sits on in 1999-2000. August of 2000, is when construction began. This was when trees were removed and the fairways began to take shape. Wadsworth was the main builder for the golf course. Jerry Pate, who won the U.S. Open in 1976, was the named architect and designer of the golf course. Many things were moving at this point and the 7th and 8th holes were the first two holes constructed on the golf course.

Flagstaff Ranch was developed with idea of developing the golf course around the trees, which made it fit so well and giving it the natural look and feel it became. This setting has offered the most spectacular views in all of the golf courses in Flagstaff. The location was picked because of its unique setting that isn’t rivaled by any other golf course in Flagstaff. The driving range at Flagstaff Ranch was used as the base material to help build I-40 and I-17, which offers a unique and stunning setting that you would be hard to find anywhere else. Flagstaff Ranch became member-owned in 2015 and has experienced an incredible amount of growth over the years, making it one of the most desirable communities in all of Arizona. Flagstaff Ranch has been consistently ranked as one of the top private golf courses in the state of Arizona and one of the top residential golf communities in the country.
